Holy Week positions us between the extremes of silence and shouting. Jesus embodies divine silence as he rides the colt through the cloaks and crowds, but his disciples found their voice. His entry marks the beginning of the end and we are left to wonder, “Did his silence help to steady and prepare him for what was to come? Did the praise of the disciples give him strength?” Think about your life. Have you ever experienced silence that restored you in some way? Have you ever felt fortified by shouts and praise?
